Mentoring Programmes

MENTORING

Our GLIM mentors work in partnership with schools to engage directly with the child to provide a positive role model and mentor service. This service gives the child strategies and guidance to help them achieve much more in school and their social environment. GLIM mentors will work with the schools behaviour policy and implement it into the programme they create. GLIM work alongside class teachers to devise a plan of action, this can be reviewed termly making sure the child is continuing to make progress whilst achieving and maintaining a level of behaviour that is acceptable. The mentor can also provide teaching assistant support in the classroom, playground and where necessary to aid, support and manage their day to day behaviour.

HOME TO SCHOOL MENTORING

The aim of the Home to School Mentoring Programme is to mentor and be a positive role model to children that are in need of support in their social environment as well as school, particularly in environments in which the child’s development is negatively affected. GLIM will provide behaviour support and strategies to enable parents and guardians at home to link the behaviour structure that is in place at school to build consistency increasing the strength and effectiveness of our work. The programme will run for 12 weeks.
